Stabenow Bought And Paid For By Pro-Abortion Lobby

Earlier we shed some light on Senator Debbie Stabenow‘s (D-MI) opposition to two amendments today regarding the use of tax payer funds to pay for abortions and conscientious objectors. We thought you might like some additional information on Stabenow’s support of the pro-abortion lobby.

Between January 2001 and December 2008, Stabenow received at least $470,116 from some of the pro-abortion industry’s leading contributors, including EMILY’s List, NARAL and Planned Parenthood.

In 2000, EMILY’s List Included Stabenow In First Endorsement Mailing Of Election.  “By today, EMILY’s List plans to have sent out its first candidate endorsement mailing of this election cycle . . . Rep. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., who is running for the Senate, also is included in the mailing, as is state Sen. Dianne Byrum, who is running for Stabenow’s current seat.”  (“EMILY’S List’s First Mailing Boosts Incumbents,” National Journal’s CongressDaily, 5/21/99)

  • EMILY’s List And Its Members Also Gave Stabenow Over $2 Million Worth Of Contributions And Assistance. “EMILY’s List also helped Stabenow narrowly beat Republican incumbent Spencer Abraham in 2000. The group’s members gave her campaign $1.4 million, and EMILY’s List estimates it contributed more than $1 million in other assistance. The PAC already has helped Stabenow raise $100,000 toward her 2006 re-election campaign.”  (“National PAC Makes Michigan Its Top Target For 2006,” The Associated Press, 10/6/05)

Also In 2000, NARAL Called Stabenow’s Election “One Of The Most Critical Victories” For Abortion. “In one of the most critical victories for choice nationwide, pro-choice U.S. Representative Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) triumphed in yesterday’s general election, defeating anti-choice incumbent Sen. Spencer Abraham (R-Mich.).”  (“NARAL: Stabenow Defeats Anti-Choice Incumbent Abraham,” U.S. Newswire, 11/8/00)

  • “Stabenow, a dedicated defender of choice, has cast 54 of 54 votes to protect a woman’s right to choose during her tenure in the U.S. House of Representatives.”  (“NARAL: Stabenow Defeats Anti-Choice Incumbent Abraham,” U.S. Newswire, 11/8/00)

What does all that abortion cash and electioneering support get you? An unapologetic pro-abortionist.
